More Details
The Department has been instrumental in starting the following therapeutic modalities in Odisha, which were unavailable earlier, forcing patients to travel outside the State.

- The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, KIMS,also offers a robust educational program, with three DM (Doctorate of Medicine) seats available annually for aspiring gastroenterologists, providing them with the opportunity to train under the guidance of experienced and knowledgeable faculty.
- The Department has remained focused on research and publications. It has hosted the consensus meetings for Acute Liver Failure in April and July 2019. The meetings were attended by liver experts from across the country to formulate guidelines for the management of Acute Liver Failure (ALF). The faculties of the department have published their research in peer-reviewed international and national journals, being one of the forefront departments in publication at KIMS.
- The department also conducts its annual conference, Kalinga Perspective in Liver and Digestive Diseases (KPLD), continuing its tradition of bringing together leading experts in hepatology, gastroenterology, and endoscopy. This conference is focused on engaging discussions, groundbreaking research, and invaluable clinical insights that will shape the future of digestive and liver diseases.
- The department conducts 3-4 hands-on workshops and CMEs/year on advanced endoscopic procedures like ERCP and EUS to train endoscopists from across India.
