Overview

The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy has thrived and excelled in academics — both at the Undergraduate and Post-Graduate level –research and patient care. Innovative and relevant UG curriculum and PG studies coupled with research activities make the Department a major draw among students from across the nation. The MBBS curriculum began in 2007 and the MD programme in 2018 with 2 seats, increased to 4 subsequently. Three batches of MD students, so far, have passed out.

The Department is adequately equipped with advanced instruments and machines with well-trained faculties.  It is a tertiary care centre for the treatment of severe skin diseases like Pemphigus, Psoriasis, Erythroderma and Leprosy reactions etc. The Department has collectively published more than 480 articles in various national and international journals.

Services  Provided

  • The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy of KIMS is equipped with advanced instruments and machines managed by well-trained faculties.
  • It is a tertiary care centre for the treatment of severe skin diseases like Pemphigus, Psoriasis, Erythroderma, Leprosy reactions etc.
  • It conducts cosmetic procedures on daily basis to improve the pigmentation, contour and texture of the skin.
  • Patients are treated with different types of chemical peels, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and microdermabrasion.
  • Advanced techniques like PRP, LASER are carried out in the dermatology OPD for hair growth, showing excellent results.
  • An advanced phototherapy unit is available for the management of vitiligo and psoriasis. Excessive hair growth known as hirsutism is also treated with efficient DIODE LASER. Carbon-dioxide LASER for acne scar resurfacing is routinely carried out.
  • The ND YAG LASER facility is available in the Department for colour tattoo removal.
  • Fine lines on the face, and superficial scars on the face are treated efficiently by microdermabrasion.
