Prof Dr Chinmoy Bijay Kumar Mohanty is the Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Professor of Medicine in KIMS.
Academics:
MBBS from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and MD in Medicine.
Positions held:
- DMET and Special Secretary, Govt of Odisha.
- Credited with the development of teaching curriculum and administrative work as superintendent at SCBMCH and DMET.
- Worked as a Key Resource Person of Odisha Govt Technical Team for planning and execution of different mitigation/prevention strategies.
- He was a member of High-Level Committee on COVID Management constituted by Govt of Odisha under the chairmanship of Dr K. Srinath Reddy.
- Planned and executed COVID- 19 testing facilities, convalescent plasma units, surveillance of medical data, establishment of new COVID- 19 facilities and ICUs across the state.
- Member of High Court Legal Services Committee of Orissa 2009.
- Nodal Officer for Dengue Management during Dengue Epidemic from 2016-19, Anthrax outbreaks in Angul District in 2013, and Heat Strokes at SCB MCH and Trainer of Trainers (TOT) for HIV & AIDS.
- Clinical Member of the State level Investigating team into Mango Kernel poisoning in Kashipur, Rayagada District in 2001.
- Successful managing Dengue patients as Nodal officer and managing Anthrax with zero mortality in Angul in 2013.
- Member of MCI Inspection Committee for many medical colleges in India.
- Member of High-Power Committee for reservation of seats in technical institutions in Odisha for students passing out from Odia Medium Schools.
Achievements:
- During his tenure as DMET, the long awaited cadaveric organ transplantation started for the first time in Odisha.
- As Superintendent during the aftermath of Fani Severe Cyclone in Odisha, he brought back normalcy to devastated SCB MCH within 48 hrs.
- Under his tenure, the largest Government-run ECMO unit of the country was established in Cuttack within a record time of two months.
- As DMET, a new Govt Medical College at Puri was started and another two are in process.
Research and publications:
- Published more than 10 research papers in national journals; presented more than 10 research works in national conferences
- Contributed medical articles in chapters of Medical updates of API since 2007
