We are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of postgraduate scholars from the Department of Community Medicine, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) at the prestigious 8th International Conference on Work Environment and Cardiovascular Diseases (ICOH-CVD), hosted by the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Bangkok. The conference was organized under the banner of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH)—a leading global organization dedicated to advancing occupational health through research, education, and practice.
Dr. Priyanka Mohanty, a second-year postgraduate student, was awarded the Best Oral Presentation for her impactful research titled:
“Health-Seeking Behaviour and Out-of-Pocket Expenditure of Tribal Adult Population: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Selected District of Odisha,”
conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Basanta Kumar Behera, Prof. Dr. Ipsita Debata, and Dr. Prem Sagar Panda. Her study addressed critical disparities in healthcare access and financial burden among tribal populations and was highly praised for its methodological strength and social significance.
Another commendable presentation was delivered by Dr. Sumelika Das, a second-year postgraduate student, who showcased her research on:
“Evaluating the Relationship Between Occupational Stress and Cardiovascular Health Risks Among Security Guards in a Tertiary Care Center in Bhubaneswar, Odisha: A Total Worker Health Approach,”

These accolades are a testament to the academic excellence, research commitment, and public health orientation of the Department of Community Medicine at KIMS. The recognition also reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to address real-world health challenges through evidence-based research and holistic approaches.
