The Pathology Department in KIMS began operation in 2004 and has been headed by Dr (Prof) Urmila Senapati from 2008. At present, 14 faculties including five Professors, six Associate Professors, three Assistant Professors are working full time. Two legends of pathology, Dr R.N Mallik, Director Patholab Health Care Pvt. Ltd, Cuttack and Dr Ashim Dash, Retd Professor, PGI Chandigarh are taking PG classes.

The Department offers one of the best PG teaching courses in Pathology. Students have bagged several awards and the Department has recorded good placements across the country. Eight PG students, 250 MBBS students, 100 BDS students, 100 nursing students, 50 allied medical sciences are being taught by the experienced faculty every year. They have an impressive 160 research publications in national and international journals. The Department had organized 13 state, national and international level seminars and CMEs.

The Department of Pathology has got one of the finest museums in the entire Eastern Zone of the country for better understanding of the subject matter for the students.

There are 160 publications till date in various international and national journals.

The Department has conducted 13 state level, national and international CMEs and workshops including an international conference of Association of Indian Pathologists in North America (AIPNA) and Indian College of Pathologists (International).
